History
In 1964, J. N. Trenke immigrated from Salzburg, Austria with a passion to introduce the highest quality welding consumables to the Canadian market. He started a small business in Toronto and travelled extensively across the entire country. In 1968 he moved his young family west and Arctec® Alloys Limited was born. His hard work, integrity and vision for his business led to great success. By 1983 the company had blossomed to 4 warehouse locations and over 40 employees, including second generation family.
For over half a century this passion for welding innovation has fueled the family business, earning Arctec® a reputation for providing exceptional quality, unique formulations and excellent customer service.
The welding industry has changed dramatically since 1968. Shifts in processes, materials, technology and standards have reshaped what it means to supply specialized consumables. Today’s demands are also more than simply being cost effective; timely service, same-day shipping, and constant improvement in product performance are also required. Despite these challenges Arctec® Alloys Limited has remained a constant leader in the Canadian market, continuing to evolve and staying true to its roots.
The year 2024 marked a major milestone as the company celebrated 60 years of providing exceptional solutions and service to the Canadian welding industry. Arctec® treasures our many partners and customers. We are very proud of our past and look forward to carrying our legacy into the future.
